The program includes the historic city of Kathmandu and the beautiful hill stations of Nagarkot. In Kathmandu, explore Swayambhunath Temple, Pashupatinath, Durbar Square, and the bustling Ason Market. A mere 90-minute drive takes you to the 2nd-century Changu Narayan Temple. A hike on a secluded trail takes the hustle and bustle of the city away from the tranquility of Nagarkot.

Tour Itinerary

Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, holds political and cultural significance, adorned with unique monuments and rare natural beauty. Often referred to as a living history, the modern city of Kathmandu comprises three ancient cities: Patan, Kathmandu, and Bhaktapur. Upon your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will be there to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, you will receive a briefing about your upcoming program.

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a full day of sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley, including visits to Kathmandu City, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Patan City.
Kathmandu City is the largest in Nepal, with a cultural legacy dating back to the 14th century under the Malla Dynasty. It was during this time that Newar artisans, patronized by the nobility, created exquisite temples, monasteries, and intricate courtyards that stand as a testament to the city's architectural history. Your exploration will take you to Durbar Square, where you'll encounter the resplendent Taleju Temple with its golden roof, which was restored by King Mahendra Malla in 1562. You'll also visit Hanuman Dhoka Durbar, the old Royal Palace, guarded by a statue of Hanuman, the monkey god, draped in a red cloak. The deity's face is adorned with sindur, a mixture of red dust and mustard oil. Your journey through the city will lead you to the House of the Living Goddess, where the Kumari, the virgin goddess, may be glimpsed from an upper-floor window. You'll meander through the bazaars and labyrinthine streets of the Old Town, taking in the vibrant ambiance.
Next, you'll visit Swayambhunath Stupa, one of the world's oldest shrines and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This sacred Buddhist temple, established over 2,500 years ago, rests atop a 3km hill on the western outskirts of Kathmandu. It is one of Nepal's most important and revered Buddhist sites. Legend has it that when the Kathmandu Valley was a lake 2,000 years ago, a single lotus flower bloomed in the center. When the Bodhisattva Manjushree drained the lake with his sword, the lotus settled on a hill, miraculously transforming into a stupa. This is the origin of the name "Swayambhunath," often called the self-made stupa. The stupa offers magnificent views of the Kathmandu Valley, with the compassionate eyes of Buddha adorning all four sides and a mystical third eye symbolizing true wisdom.
Later, you'll be transferred to Patan, known as the City of Artisans, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its exquisite craft and fine arts. The city is home to the most skilled craftsmen in the Kathmandu Valley, who have preserved ancient techniques and traditions used to create remarkable sculptures. As you wander through the streets, you'll discover a variety of treasures, from thangka paintings to metal handicrafts, all available at reasonable prices. Patan is enclosed by four stupas, constructed by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century AD, each symbolizing the Buddhist Wheel of Righteousness (Dharma Chakra). At the heart of Patan, in the bustling marketplace, lies Patan Durbar Square, an area adorned with ancient palaces, pagoda temples, stone baths, Hindu and Buddhist statues, intricate engravings, and bronze sculptures. Notable among them is the palace of the Malla Kings, featuring the stone temple of Lord Krishna, built in the 16th century AD. The Royal Bath, known as 'Tushahity,' is another exquisite example of stone and bronze craftsmanship within the palace complex.

Commencing the day with an early breakfast, you'll set out for the Changu Narayan Temple in Bhaktapur. This temple, distinguished as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, exemplifies the Pagoda-style architecture of Nepal. Located in a serene village enveloped by champak trees, its history traces back to the 4th century. Adjacent to the temple, a small museum narrates the tale of Changu Narayan, providing insight into the inspiration behind this magnificent temple.
After exploring Changu Narayan, your journey continues with a hike to Nagarkot. The trail meanders through Tamang villages and rhododendron forests. Nestled at an elevation of 2175m above sea level, Nagarkot lies 35 km northeast of Kathmandu and is celebrated as an international tourist hotspot. It offers awe-inspiring vistas of the Langtang mountain range, picturesque landscapes, glorious sunrise views over the mountains, and captivating sunsets. Nagarkot has become a favored overnight destination, drawing not only international visitors but also Kathmandu's residents.

Following breakfast, embark on a short hike to a tower that offers magnificent panoramic views of Kathmandu city.
After lunch, you will drive back to Kathmandu.
