Trekking through Tsum Valley unveils untouched beauty, providing mesmerizing views of landscapes and majestic mountains like Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal, and Boudha Himal. Opened to trekkers in 2008, Tsum Valley remains relatively pristine, featuring ancient villages and Tibetan Buddhist monasteries awaiting exploration. The trek typically spans 5–8 hours per day, with the highest point reaching 4,000m near Mu Gompa, the largest monastery in the valley.

Expect a rudimentary lifestyle, similar to the locals, with meals consisting of Dal Bhat, Chapatis, and noodle soup. Today early in the morning, we will drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola that marks as the beginning of the Manaslu Circuit trek, offering a glimpse into the diverse landscapes of Nepal. It’s an 8-9 hours long journey from Kathmandu with a scenic view on each turn. The road initially passes through urban areas, where you can see a mix of traditional Newari architecture and modern developments. As you move away from the city, the highway winds through terraced hillsides and rural village. (Overnight at Hotel).
Today our trek commences from Machha Khola, a small settlement situated beside the Budhi Gandaki River. The trail begins with a gradual ascent along the riverbank, passing through terraced fields and small Gurung villages. The trail also passes by impressive waterfalls cascading down from the steep cliffs. Towards the end of the day’s trek, you ascend gradually to reach Jagat, a picturesque village perched on a rocky hillside. (Overnight at Local Teahouse).
On the fourth day of our trek, we will covers about 20-25 kilometers and that takes us around 6-7 hours. The trail involve a significant altitude gain with a mix of uphill and downhill sections meandering through terraced fields, lush forests, and alongside riverbanks, providing stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.The route offers beautiful views of mountains and rivers, and you’ll experience traditional Tibetan-influenced culture in Lokpa.
After leaving Lokpa we cross the gorge passing a waterfall before descending to the Tsum valley. The trail takes us through a rhododendrons forest after which we head to Lokpa Pass where have spectacular views of Mt.Himalchuli (7893m) and the Boudha Himal. from Lokpa. We then head down to Lungwa Khola before reaching Gumlung after which we cross the Siyar Khola until we reach Chumling where we will visit the Chumling Gompa. We stay the night at Chumling.
Today, we begin by crossing a suspension bridge that offers breathtaking views of the Ganesh Himal. The trail then leads us past Rainjam and across the Seru Khola before we arrive at Gho Village. After trekking for a total of 5 to 6 hours, we will reach Chokhangparo, a village that provides stunning views of Himalchuli (7,893m) and Ganesh Himal (7,140m). (Overnight at teahouse).
Today we will trek for 5 to 6 hours covering the distance of 15-20 km. The trail is generally uphill with rocky and uneven terrain, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas and charming Tibetan-style villages, stunning mountain vistas, cultural insights into Tibetan-influenced local life, and unique high-altitude villages. The weather can be cold and windy especially at higher elevations so, make sure to put on warm clothing. The trail to Rachen Gompa and the Shir Khola (river). After leaving the river we pass by Phurbe and Pangdun villages before arriving at the Nile.
The trail today takes us close to the Tibetan border as we walk through the valley. The trail is characterized by gradual climbs through high-altitude terrain with expansive views of the surrounding mountains and the Tibetan Plateau. Along the way, you'll encounter traditional Tibetan monasteries and remote villages, reflecting the area's unique cultural heritage. We continue and climb up to the Dhepu Doma Gompa (monastery) and then on to today’s destination Mu Gompa.
Today, we will retrace our steps from Mu Gompa back to Chumling along the same trail. Our descent will take us through lush valleys and terraced fields in the lower regions. The path winds through charming villages, including the vibrant settlement of Chhekampar, before gradually leading us down to Chumling. (Overnight at Local Teahouse).
Today we will head toward Philim from Chumling. We'll move towards Lokpa and pass through beautiful Samba Fall. We’ll trek through beautiful terraced fields and forested areas. The trail follows the Soti Khola River and offers views of the surrounding hills and valleys as you descend.
Today the trail follows the Soti Khola River, with several river crossings and gentle downhill paths. As you trek, you’ll experience lush greenery and glimpses of local village life. The trail eventually leads you to Machha Khola a small village, named after the local fish (machha) in the river (khola), is a common stopping point for trekkers on their way out of the Manaslu region.
The drive from Machha Khola to Kathmandu typically takes about 7-8 hours, depending on the specific route and road conditions. It’s a journey that offers a glimpse into the diverse landscapes and cultures of Nepal, concluding your trekking experience with a return to urban comforts and the vibrant atmosphere of Kathmandu.
It's your last day in Nepal! Grab some breakfast, and then take in some last-minute shopping in Kathmandu. We'll make sure you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport with plenty time before your flight home. At this time, we'll say our goodbyes and bid you farewell, armed with warm memories and gorgeous photos to show your loved ones. (Overnight at Local Teahouse).
