Today you fly to Kathmandu and upon arrival, you are met at the airport and taken to the historic Dwarika’s Hotel.  Nepal has won two Heritage Awards, one for the Medieval City of Bhaktapur and the other for Dwarika's Hotel. Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a historical and cultural gem located in the heart of Nepal's capital. This enchanting square is a testament to the country's royal and architectural heritage. It boasts a stunning collection of palaces, courtyards, temples, and statues, showcasing exquisite Newar architecture. The Hanuman Dhoka Durbar, the old royal palace, stands as the central attraction, guarded by a statue of Hanuman, the monkey-god. The Square is a vibrant hub of festivals, cultural events, and traditional markets, providing visitors with a sensory feast of Nepal's rich culture. With its intricate craftsmanship and historical significance, Kathmandu Durbar Square is a captivating window into the nation's past and a must-visit destination.

Next, visit Swayambhunath, often referred to as the "Monkey Temple," is an iconic religious and cultural site that overlooks the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. This ancient stupa is one of the country's most revered and recognizable landmarks. Its whitewashed dome, adorned with a gilded spire and the watchful eyes of Buddha, exudes an air of spiritual serenity. The site is encompassed by a multitude of prayer flags, shrines, and smaller stupas, creating a sacred ambiance. Its significance transcends Buddhism, as Swayambhunath is a symbol of harmony, tolerance, and Nepal's religious diversity. The resident troop of monkeys adds a lively touch to this mystical hilltop sanctuary, making it a cherished and spiritually resonant destination.

Later afternoon explore Patan City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its exquisite Newar architecture and rich cultural heritage. This ancient square is a treasure trove of intricately carved temples, palaces, courtyards, and statues that reflect the city's royal history and artistic brilliance. Notable structures include the Krishna Mandir, a stone temple with remarkable carvings, and the Patan Museum, which houses an exceptional collection of art and artifacts. The square is a hub of cultural events, festivals, and a living testament to the city's vibrant traditions. Visitors are enchanted by the harmonious blend of history and artistry that defines Patan Durbar Square.

After breakfast drive to Dhulikhel which takes approx. 45 min drive from Kathmandu. On the we will visit Bhaktapur, the city was founded in the 9th century and contains many impressive sights including the ancient gateway, the statue of Bhupatindra Malla, the pottery center, the famous pagoda style, five-storied temples of Nytapole and Thimi, a place famous for the manufacture of unusual masks. Bhaktapur is regarded as a showcase of “medieval” Nepalese town life.

Then continue your drive to Dhulikhel - Situated amidst hills and valleys, surrounded by greenery, Dhulikhel is one of the ancient Newari towns that have preserved the Newari tradition and culture. Dhulikhel offers the best views of the northeastern Himalayas along with beautiful pagoda-style temples. Also popular for the remarkable view of the sunrise and sunset, Dhulikhel is famous for its vantage location in viewing the Himalayan ranges from Cho Oyu in the east to Himalchuli in the west.

The remaining day is at leisure or indulging in the activities offered by the Resort.

After a leisurely breakfast and the comfort of your hotel, take a day hike to Namo Buddha. Namo Buddha is one of the holiest Buddhist sites. It is located on a slightly elevated land, glistened with distant snowcapped mountains and adorned with fluttering prayer flags. The story of this place states that an incarnation of Buddha sacrificed himself to feed a starving tigress and her cubs. 

Later, enjoy the activities offered by the resort.

Today begins with a flight into Paro, offering panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks and picturesque farmhouses dotting the hillsides. Upon arrival in Paro, travelers can spot Paro Dzong on a hill overlooking the Paro Chu, with Ta Dzong, now the National Museum, above it.

The journey continues with a scenic drive to Thimphu, taking about an hour. The route traverses the Paro Valley and reaches Chuzom, the confluence of the Paro and Thimphu rivers. En route, Simtokha Dzong is visited, known as the "Palace of the Profound Meaning of Secret Mantras," built in 1629 and often considered Bhutan's first dzong. It incorporates both monastic and administrative facilities and has a history tied to guarding against a demon.

Additionally, tourists explore the Memorial Chorten, a striking Tibetan-style Buddhist Monastery built in 1974 to honor the memory of the third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Its golden spires and bells make it a prominent landmark in Thimphu, showcasing exquisite Bhutanese architecture.

Today begins with a visit to the National Library of Bhutan, an impressive four-storied, eight-cornered traditional building reminiscent of a Bhutanese Dzong central tower. Initially established in 1967 within the Tashichho Dzong, it was later relocated due to its expanding collection. The library is responsible for collecting and preserving important documents from Bhutan's past, present, and future. It also houses a collection of English and Western language books, primarily related to the Himalayas, Bhutan, and Buddhism.

Next is a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum, a three-story earthen and timber building renovated to resemble its appearance a century ago. Established in 2001, the museum offers insights into traditional Bhutanese material culture and rural life, displaying artifacts from rural households.

The tour continues with a visit to the Government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local craft shops, offering a chance to explore and purchase traditional Bhutanese arts, from hand-woven textiles to thangkha paintings, masks, ceramics, wood carvings, jewelry, and more.

Finally, travelers are encouraged to visit the Tashichho Dzong, a majestic and historically significant building situated on the northern edge of Thimphu. It traditionally serves as the seat of the Druk desi or 'Dharma Raja,' the head of Bhutan's civil government, a role that has been combined with the kingship since the monarchy's establishment in 1907. The Tashichho Dzong is also the summer capital of Bhutan and is a magnificent cultural and administrative center.

The day begins with a drive back to Paro from Thimphu, taking approximately one hour. Visitors are encouraged to explore some of the most significant cultural and historical sites in the region.

The first stop is at the Rinpung Dzong, one of Bhutan's most impressive fortresses, known as the "fortress on a heap of jewels." This fine example of Bhutanese architecture serves as the administrative seat of the Paro district. The dzong has a history dating back to the 16th century and was originally constructed on the foundation of a monastery established by Guru Rinpoche. It played a pivotal role in defending the Paro Valley from Tibetan invasions.

Next, visitors can explore the National Museum of Bhutan, located in the circular Ta-Dzong building, which was once an ancient watchtower above the Paro Dzong. The building is uniquely shaped like a conch shell and was originally built in 1656. In 1968, it was converted into a museum, housing an impressive collection of Bhutanese art, including bronze statues and paintings from various regions of the country.

The itinerary also includes a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest Himalayan Buddhist temples, built in the seventh century. This temple is part of a group of 108 temples constructed by Tibetan emperor Songtsen Gampo to subdue a demoness obstructing the spread of Buddhism. The journey begins with a 35-kilometer drive to Chele La Pass, an intriguing and picturesque route that serves as an excellent starting point for day hikes. Chele La Pass is significant as it separates Haa and Paro Valleys and stands at an elevation of approximately 3810 meters, making it the highest motorable pass in Bhutan. On clear days, it offers breathtaking views of the sacred Mt. Jhomolhari and Jitchu Drake. Visitors can commemorate their ascent by hanging prayer flags at the peak.

Following the pass, the itinerary takes travelers to the Haa Valley, often referred to as the "Hidden-Land Rice Valley." This valley is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and cultural significance. Legend has it that before the 8th century, the Haa Valley was steeped in animist traditions. Some remnants of these beliefs persist through festivals and rituals. In the 8th century, the tantric master Padmasambhava visited the valley and transformed certain animist practices into peaceful Buddhist traditions. Hostile animist forces like Ap Chundu were subdued and became the protectors of the land. The Haa Valley encapsulates a rich tapestry of history and natural splendor.

After breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you'll be met and, after lunch, your sightseeing adventure begins with a visit to Bouddhanath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This iconic stupa is one of Kathmandu's most imposing landmarks, constructed on a massive three-level mandala-style platform, and it's the largest of its kind globally. The stupa's base is adorned with 108 small images of the Dhyani Amitabha Buddha and features prayer wheels that pilgrims spin while circumambulating it in a clockwise direction.

Next, you'll explore Pashupatinath Temple, located 5 km east of Kathmandu. This sacred Hindu temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is nestled in a lush green natural setting on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. The temple, built in a pagoda style, boasts a gilded roof and intricately carved silver doors. Please note that entry to the temple is restricted to non-Hindus; however, you can view it from the eastern bank of the Bagmati River. Pashupatinath plays a central role in the annual Shivaratri pilgrimage, which occurs in February/March, and behind the temple lies the cremation grounds.

In the evening, you'll be transferred to the airport for your onward flight, concluding your exploration of the rich cultural and religious heritage of Kathmandu.
